Privacy
This page describes the data flows visible in the current berkant.me implementation. The site has no user accounts, comments, checkout, newsletter form, or contact form, and it does not ask visitors to submit personal information through the website.
Analytics
This site uses self-hosted Umami at analytics.berkant.me to measure page views, estimated visitors, referral sources, general device and location information, link clicks, control interactions, and blog scroll depth. Interaction events contain page paths, public link destinations, and predefined control labels, not typed form values or clipboard contents. The analytics dashboard requires a login and is not publicly shared. Google Analytics is not used.
The analytics tracker does not set cookies. Umami processes request information, including the IP address and user agent, to generate temporary identifiers and estimate location; raw IP addresses are not stored in the analytics database. Page URL query parameters and fragments are excluded, and the tracker respects your browser’s Do Not Track setting. Analytics records remain on this site’s server until deleted by the administrator.
Network and server data
As with most websites, the hosting infrastructure receives request information needed to deliver pages and protect the service. This can include an IP address, requested URL, timestamp, user agent, referrer, and diagnostic logs. The homepage also loads a font stylesheet from Google-operated domains. Those font requests are governed by Google’s own privacy terms.
The server reads the public GitHub contribution page to update the contribution graph. That request is made by the berkant.me server and does not send a visitor’s GitHub credentials. Links to GitHub, LinkedIn, X, and other external products leave this site and are governed by the destination’s policies.
Email and questions
If you email me, your message, address, headers, and any information you include are processed by the email services used by you and by me. I use that information to read and respond to the message. Do not send secrets or sensitive customer data through ordinary email unless an appropriate secure channel has been agreed first.
